Essendon Adult Day Centre

Essendon Adult Day Centre provides a range of out of home activities (known as Planned Activity Groups) designed to enhance the physical, intellectual, emotional, psychological and social well-being of participants.

What is a Planned Activity Group?

Fun for everyone at Doutta Galla

Planned Activity Groups provide the opportunity for people to remain independent by participating in a range of activities and developing friendships in a supportive and caring environment. Activities include old time sing-a-longs, craft, outings, quizzes, guest speakers and exercise classes. Activities change regularly to reflect the preferences of the people attending.

Who can attend?

The Day Centre is available to people who reside within the City of Moonee Valley and are frail aged, disabled or have a memory impairment.

Referrals

A referral from a health professional or service provider is required for someone to attend the Day Centre.

How do I get to the Day Centre?

Transport is provided for people attending the Day Centre (to and from home) either in an escorted mini bus/car or by taxi. The cost of transport is included in the daily fee.

Meals

Morning tea and a three course mid day meal are provided.

Cost

A small fee is charged to each client to cover the cost of activities, meals and transport.

Carers

Indoor bowls game

Every second month the Day Centre organises outings and information sessions for carers of clients who attend the Day Centre. These sessions provide the opportunity for carers to relax and enjoy the company of others. Respite may be arranged for a client whilst their carer is on an outing.
