Meet our clients

Jo

Regular visits help Jo manage her illness

Jo is a lively Doutta Galla regular and second generation client. “I knew about Doutta Galla through my grandma who has now passed away who used the facilities. At first I didn’t know it was for younger clients as well. It wasn’t until I went on Doutta Galla’s website to find out more about the podiatry program that I realised it was also for younger people with disabilities.

I now go once or twice a month for podiatry or physiotherapy. I’m thinking about going to extra physiotherapy sessions and have considered the dental services for both myself and my daughter.”

As Jo discovered, Doutta Galla provides a nuturing and caring environment that places clients first. “The people I have met are very committed to improving their client’s health, especially if you are willing to help yourself get better.”

As someone who suffers from a chronic disease, Jo is now better able to manage day to day. “Doutta Galla’s services have really helped me a great deal. It’s an excellent service for the community.”

Victor

Great results motivate Victor to keep moving

Victor’s health has improved significantly after visiting Doutta Galla’s podiatry, dental and physiotherapy services. He has also joined the diabetes program.

“I went to see a specialist at the hospital who referred me to the Niddrie clinic. Since then, I’ve been having weekly appointments for the past two months for my health problems.”

After participating in the diabetes program, Victor has lost over six kilos in two months after learning what types of food to avoid. “I used to have low self-esteem before I started the course. I learnt that losing weight through diet and exercise is very beneficial for my health. I’ve cut out cakes and chocolates completely and have started walking. Now I’m able to fit back into my old clothes! This motivates me to keep going.”

Victor was also impressed with the opportunity Doutta Galla gives allied health students. “At Niddrie, dental students worked on my teeth under the watchful eye of qualified professionals. I think it’s a fantastic way for them to learn and gain experience.”

Rosa

Affordable care keeps Rosa healthy

Rosa is a regular visitor at Doutta Galla. “At first I wasn’t sure about what Doutta Galla programs were about, but once I started going to my physiotherapy and dietetics sessions every four weeks I found both really helpful. I’m now on the right track with my diet and managing my aches and pains.

I think Doutta Galla is great for pensioners like me who are unable to pay for expensive private services. This means I am able to still get the care and support I need.”

Rosa has found Doutta Galla services to be of high standard with helpful and informative staff members. “Just recently, I found out that I need to start a gluten free diet. I’m learning different things about nutrition and have been talking to my dietician about Doutta Galla organising a supermarket shopping trip for those who are on special diets.”

Rosa is enthusiastic about the service. “I have even joined a women’s group, where I go to chat with other women about our families and health programs.”

Bruce

Managing diabetes is now easy for Bruce

When Strathmore senior resident Bruce heard Doutta Galla was running a Diabetes Educational Program he was eager to join.

“The course was very helpful, I didn’t realise how much information was out there about diabetes and diet. I was very excited to be educated!

I only thought I would be interested for the first couple of weeks, but the course was so beneficial that I stayed the full six weeks.

I am impressed by the first class facilities at the Niddrie clinic. Doutta Galla staff members are always in such high spirits and put a smile on my face each time I visit. I will definitely attend more services in future.”
