Adult dental program- Emergency/Early Childhood Oral health program/Adult program/Youth dental program

The Community Dental Program at Niddrie and Kensington provides quality general; emergency, denture, and preventative dental care to all age groups.
Who can use the Dental Service?


Adults:
To receive public dental treatment you must have a current Healthcare or Pensioner Concession card.

Preschool: All children are eligible to attend the clinic.

Youths (13-18): To receive public dental treatment you must have a current Healthcare or Pensioner Concession card.

What dental treatment is provided?


Emergency Care: An assessment is made and appropriate treatment or referral offered.

General Care:
A Full course of general care including checkups, cleaning, fillings, extractions and prevention. Referrals can be made to specialist dental care at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.

Dentures:
Dentures and denture repairs are available either at the clinic or through the Victorian Denture Scheme.

School Dental: The School Dental Program is located at the Niddrie Site.  For further information ring this site on (03) 8378 3566.

 

How much will my treatment cost?


Adults:
A co-payment fee of $23.00 is required on your first visit. At your appointment, we will discuss your treatment plan and inform you about the cost of any future visits.

Co-payment fees for general dental care will not exceed $92.00. However, if you require dentures and specialist care, additional charges will apply.

Preschool Children:
Dental Care is FREE for all children whose parents are recipients of concession card.

For all other children there is a payment of $28.00 per course of care.

Youths (13-18):
Dental Care is FREE for all eligible youths.

 

Who provides the dental care?


Dentists, dental therapists and dental prosthetists provide treatment with dental assistants to assist them.

 

How do I access general dental care?


Adults:
For general care and dentures you must put your name on the waiting list. Please phone 8378 3566 Niddrie and 83781670 Kensington

Preschoolers and Youths:
If you have not used the service before you will be given the next available appointment, as there is no waiting list. Once you have completed a course of care you will be placed on an appropriate recall.

Specialist dental care is not available, but referrals maybe made to the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne for eligible clients.

 

How do I access emergency dental care?


Please phone 8378 3566 or 83781670 for assessment of emergencies and dental trauma. Treatment will be provided at the clinic or you will be referred to the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. After business hours please call the dental hospital on 93411040 or go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

 

What do I do if I need an interpreter?


Please tell us your preferred language when you make your appointment. We can then arrange for an interpreter to be at your appointment.
