MEDICAL SERVICES

The medical service at Doutta Galla Community Health Services is committed to providing comprehensive general practice care to all individuals and families in this community. All patient consultations and medical records are kept strictly confidential in line with the Commonwealth and Victorian Privacy legislation.

Client Privacy Information is accessible to all clients at reception.

All Medical Practitioners at DGCHS have satisfied the training requirements of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. This means we have a commitment to general practice and to continuing medical education.

HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER/NURSE

 
You can make an appointment with your doctor at DGCHS, by phone or in person. 

CONSULTING HOURS
8.30-5.30pm. Monday to Friday.
12 Gower Street, Kensington.
Closed weekends and public holidays.

Urgent medical problems can be dealt with immediately.

You can reach a Medical Practitioner at other times by phoning a Locum Service on: 13 2660.

DISABILITY ACCESS TO SERVICES


DGCHS Kensington Site has ramps for wheelchair access and disabled car parking.

 

WHAT IF YOU NEED OR WANT TO TALK TO A DOCTOR OR NURSE URGENTLY?


If you need to speak to a doctor or nurse about an urgent medical problem, please leave a message and they will try to call you back as soon as possible.

Test results and repeat prescriptions will not be discussed over the telephone.

COST


The Medical Practitioners bulk-bill all consultations. Please bring your Medicare Care and, if applicable, your Health Care Card with you to each visit.

 

HOME VISITS


Home visits are made for those clients who live in Kensington only.


Appointments are made for home visits.


Requests for home visits for regular patients with transport difficulties are best made before 10 a.m.

SPECIALIST NURSES 

Nurses play an important role within the practice and do contribute to your health.  You are able to see a nurse independently for the following reasons:

  • Immunisations and vaccinations
  • Health Assessments and Lifestyle counselling
  • Blood tests
  • Women's Health - including Pap smears and Breast checks
  • Children's Health
  • Refugee Health
  • Mental Health (click here for the Mental Health referral form).

 

OTHER MEDICAL SERVICES AT DGCHS


The Royal Women's Hospital holds antenatal clinics each Tuesday morning at Doutta Galla.  One of these clinics is held at the Kensington Medical Clinic at 12 Gower Street Kensington and the other is at the Doutta Galla Moonee Ponds site at 7 Chester St Moonee Ponds.  Women are able to attend the clinics for pre-natal care during a pregnancy and then attend the Royal Women's Hospital for the birth of the baby. 

Appointments can be made through reception at Kensington on 8378 1600 or reception at Moonee Ponds on 9377 7100.
