Mental Health – Day Programs

Common Ground

Common Ground is a Psychosocial Disability Rehabilitation Support Service and provides ongoing support to assist people who have experienced a mental illness to have an improved quality of life, learn or relearn the skills of daily living, participate in social, recreational, educational and vocational activities and to live successfully in the community.

Individuals aged 18 years or older who experience disability arising from a mental illness who reside in the Cities of Melbourne or Moonee Valley are eligible for support services of Common Ground.

Common Ground offers open access  between 1.00 and 3.30 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Gracie Street site. The Drop In room is equipped with pool, table tennis and soccer tables. A music system is available and coffee, tea or chocolate is provided.

  • visits to zoos, museums, art galleries

This program is funded by the Department of Human Services. There are no fees charged by the Program. A contribution may be requested for some activities arranged by your support worker. An entrance fee may be levied by venues of some activities.

Referrals can be made by any organisation. People can refer themselves. Contact staff member for details

 Boomerang

BOOMERANG CLUB is a Psychosocial Disability Rehabilitation Support Service and provides ongoing support to assist people who have experienced a mental illness to have an improved quality of life, learn or relearn the skills of daily living, participate in social, recreational, educational and vocational activities and to live successfully in the community.

Individuals aged 18 years or older who experience disability arising from a mental illness who reside in the Cities of Melbourne or Moonee Valley are eligible for support services of the Boomerang Club.

The Boomerang Club offers drop-in on Mondays between 10.00-12.30pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 12.00-3.00pm at the Wilson Street Site.   The Drop-In room is equipped with a pool table, a music system.  Coffee and tea are provided.

  • Educational Activities
  • Recreation Activities
  • Italian Women’s Depression Group
  • Getting Together Older Person’s Group

Eligibility: 
Day Program is available to adults, 16 years and over who have a major psychiatric disability which affects their ability to live independently in the community, require support to participate in groups and activities in the community and who reside in the City of Moonee Valley or Melbourne and have a willingness to engage in service planning.

Limited individual support is offered via a key worker.

Intake point and process
Sent to Coordinator of Day Program, then assessment done by team leader, and then allocated to a support worker.
