The Aim of Chiron is:
- To provide an environment that promotes the wellbeing and quality of life to its residents.
- To offer affordable, stable housing with limited on site support
CHIRON IS AVAILABLE TO ADULTS WHO:
- Are affected in their ability to live independently due to having a psychiatric disability.
- Have complex needs and want support with respect to living in the community
- Have participated in rehabilitation services in the past
- Live in the Melbourne and Moonee Valley local government area
- Need more support than an outreach service can provide and want to live in a group setting
Priority will be given to people leaving CCU accommodation, are homeless, are facing accommodation difficulties due to the closure of their place of residence.
THE SERVICE PROVIDES:
- A long-term home for residents
- Assistance with daily living eg. Meals, personal hygiene, shopping, banking etc.
- Individualised program plans based on the person’s own goals
- Assistance to maintain and further develop social and independent living skills
- Support to further develop confidence and self-worth
- Assistance to participate in a community activities
- Assistance to access a range of services and resources such as health, mental health, recreational, legal, and financial services
- Referrals to other services as required
Funded by the Department of Human Services CHIRON is a long term supported housing service for a number of clients across three sites.
